Lucas transmission goop

Postby labonnevillastrangiato » Thu Jan 10, 2008 1:11 pm

When I thought the transmission was slipping in my car due to a failure, I dumped in some of the Lucas stuff that comes in the white bottle.

It helped quite a bit, but you have to add it very slowly. It's very thick.

I later learned I had a leaky trans line, and my fluid was leaking out. They replaced the line, now the car is great.

The fellow at the shop told me the Lucas product is great to run, even if you are not experiencing any problems. It will greatly help the longivity of your transmission.

I give it two thumbs up.

I guess it isn't a miracle in a bottle, but if it helps the trans last a bit longer, than it's $14.00 +/- well spent.

Definitely a good temp solution/repair solution. I can vouch that it has been essential in keeping certain transitions alive or buys them time.

I have used it before lasted about 100-200 miles of "better" driving then went back to how it was. That trans was/is pretty dead though when I put it in.

I currently have this "goop" in my Bonnie. I havent had as much as a hiccup in the performance in the transmission since! (Counting, my transmission threw a slip code shortly before I did this.)

i put a bottle in a year ago when i did the first fluid/ filter change on pickles. it was shifting icky before, after the change it went away.

changed the fluid this year without it, and it went right back to shifting icky. poured a bottle in a few weeks later.... all better!

***disclaimer this could all be rachael's overactive imagination***

i can't scientifically prove that it works but i feel that there is a big difference. makes me feel better anyways.

Really old thread.

Yeah the stuff does what it is designed for, but do not expect increased efficiency out of your transmission with it.

Pros: Roomy, clean styling, low base price.
Cons: Stodgy image, mushy seats, engine lacks quiet smoothness of competitors.
