The Project: Do something that has not been done before or that "some" say cannot be done.
So I added 1.8 rockers to my XP cam setup for lifts of .585/.603 respectively. In order to do this and correct for geometry I added comp cams SS 1.8 rockers that are tied together to distribute the load a bit better, 130# springs, Manley titanium retainers for more lift and lighter weight, and a custom set of pushrods made by Manton that are a 11/32" rod with .120 wall thickness and 7.15 length. I also have longer manley valves, so I had to buy the longer collars for the rockers and add in additional .100 spacer for proper geometry. This also requires having to raise the height of the valve covers by making a custom 3/8" spacer that had been done previously this past spring/early summer 09. Not doing so resulted in a lot of extra stress on the valve stem and seals as set up like ZZP recommends IMO.
During the install I also put in a EWP and am attempting a 2.6" pulley. With no other tuning I am getting a much leaner condition than previous which I assume tells me I definately have more air moving now. Its been so dang cold here I haven't had time to really tune it in, but now temps are into the mid 40s I've pulled out the tuner and begun mild AFR tuning/MAF tuning with the wideband.
Results are still pending, but the butt dyno says
Holy crap this thing is scarry powerful.
